Before you prepare your homemade baby food, you will need to pay attention to a few key details. First, you must be aware of common allergens and gas-inducing foods, as these can upset your baby’s digestive system. Examples of common allergens include household food items, such as;  eggs, milk, wheat, soy, tree nuts, fish and shellfish. Examples of gas-inducing foods include; beans, broccoli, onions, fruit juice, wheat, cauliflower, garlic, and dairy.

The second thing you will want to be aware of is to ensure that your baby-food recipes are age-appropriate. For babies who are between 4 and 6 months, it is best to make only single-ingredient purees that are created from low-acid fruits and sweet vegetables. Pumpkin, for example, would be a good base ingredient for a healthy homemade recipe. For babies who are 7-8 months, you can begin slowly introducing other fruits, vegetables, and proteins into their diet. Try to make note if the baby suffers any allergies over time.

Babies who are between 9 and 12 months can begin eating chunkier pieces of meat and vegetables, whole milk and dairy. After your baby’s first birthday, you can begin introducing other foods, including fish, citrus and even honey.
