Waiting for the birth of your baby from surrogacy can be exciting, nerve-wracking, fun, and anxiety-filled all at the same time.

A lot of intended parents working with us at Joy of Life® Surrogacy are filled with anticipation for their bundles of joy but also are worried about the surrogate mother and her pregnancy. To lessen the stress and anxiety, we suggest shopping for baby toys and other items to prepare for your baby’s arrival.

Looking at selections of cute and adorable toys specifically designed for children under a year old is the perfect distraction to all the nerves, tension, and agitation.

Below are some baby toy ideas for you:

1. Rattle Toys

Available in a wide range of shapes, colors, sizes, and designs, rattles are highly recommended toys for babies. They have eye-catching appearances, from geometric shapes to animals, and they make sounds that catch and hold the attention of little ones. They also encourage grasping, enhance motor skills, and help with cognitive growth and development.

2. Teething Toys

Once babies start growing teeth, they go through a lot of pain and discomfort. To provide relief, they can play with teething toys. Usually made of soft silicone, wood, or rubber, teethers come in different shapes, designs, colors, and sizes. There are teething rings, teething toothbrushes, teething animal toys, and even teething blankets.

3. Play Gym

Babies need the right amount of stimulation to grow and develop well. Even if they cannot walk yet, they have to be exposed to all sorts of sounds, textures, visuals, and others to put their senses and brains to work. With a baby play gym, which is usually made of a plastic or wood arch with different toys attached to or suspended from it, they can play while lying down, reaching, touching, and feeling the toys above them.

4. Musical Toys

To support the development of the baby’s hearing, they should have access to different sounds. Aside from singing them a lullaby, clapping, or stomping to some beats, they can benefit a lot from being exposed to baby-friendly sounds and tunes. Whether through the use of a zebra-shaped miniature plastic piano or a bright-colored toy phone with buttons programmed to play different tunes, babies not only can get their groove on but also sharpen their sensory and cognitive skills.

5. Walking Toys

At 6 months to 9 months, babies usually start to crawl, and at 9 to 12 months, they may learn to finally stand up on their own and walk. To support motor development, walking toys, such as sit-to-stand toys, ride-on toys, and push toys, are encouraged.
